Can I get a valuation without selling my car to you?

We only carry out appraisals on vehicles for instant purchase. All valuations are based on current market values which can change daily. The tools we use to find these values are costly so we ask our customers to consider whether or not they wish to sell immediately if the value is right before entering in their details.

What is the time process of selling my car to you?

Our appraisal can take around 45 minutes which will enables us to give you an offer for instant payment. Should you accept, our team will make the payment into your bank account immediately. Once the payment has been completed and you have received the funds, we put the vehicle into the trade and process the paperwork for you. This is why it is very important to bring all your spare key, service paperwork and V5 registration document with you to the appraisal. We love to go the extra mile for our customers so if you choose to come to us to sell your car, we may even be able to offer you a lift home. What is the value of my car?

By entering your registration and mileage on our website we can provide you with a rough value which will give you an idea of what your offer will be. However for a guaranteed offer, we would need to complete our vehicle appraisal. We can do this at our premises or yours. Once our team has completed a fair and honest appraisal, we can give you the true value of your car. This appraisal looks at many aspects to get you the most accurate value such as the service history, MOT expiry, market value and condition.

Will you come out to me and complete the purchase of my car?

Yes, we do indeed come out to you to complete the purchase. Get in touch today and one of our team will arrange a date and time for your appraisal. For the fastest sale, if you are local to us... we do recommend booking in with us to pop in as the sale completed on the same day.

What documents would I need to provide to sell my car?

Accepted Answer

To complete the sale of your car, you will need to provide us with your photo ID and V5 registration document. However, for the highest value for your vehicle, please have your spare key and registration document (if applicable) to hand for your appraisal.

Will you buy my car if it is a non-runner, has mechanical faults or has a 'CAT' marker?

Yes, we do indeed still attempt to make a reasonable offer on these types of vehicles but we do of course have to take these aspects into consideration with our values. We will be as transparent as we always are with our value and explain the best route to get the most money.

Can I have my value guaranteed before my apprasial?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately, due to our company policy, before any final offers and payments can be made, we have to complete our full appraisal and have the record of doing so. Of course the values may differ slightly but if you can provide us with the registration, mileage, number of keys and as many clear photographs of any damage as possible we should be able to honour our initial price before appraisal. You will be made aware of any reasons why the price may differ.

Can I send you some photos of the condition before my appraisal?

Yes, you can indeed. We always offer our customers the option to send in some photos with there registration and mileage so that we can provide a more accurate price. However, to have the value guaranteed, we would still need to complete our appraisal.

I have a private registration on my car that I would like to keep, is this a problem?

Accepted Answer

Using the link below, you can apply online to put your private registration onto ‘retention’ which means you own the number plate but it is just on hold until you wish to use this again (potentially on your new car). Once you have followed the link and completed the process. You have 10 years to put the personalized plate onto another car. Once you have put your cherished plate on retention, you can immediately put the original number plates back onto the vehicle and the DVLA will send you a new V5 in the post. Once this new V5 arrives, at this point, you can bring the car into us to be valued and complete the sale.

Will you need to test drive my vehicle?

Yes, the member of our team carrying out the appraisal will ask your permission to drive your car for a short test drive. You are more than welcome to accompany them so you can see how respectful we are. It will just be a short road test the brakes and gears. The test drive will not be vigorous and will be no longer than 15 minutes.

Can I still sell my car to you if I have lost my V5?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately you will need the V5 registration document to sell your car to us. If you have misplaced this or for any reason you no longer have it. You should apply for a new one to be sent to you via the DVLA. It costs £25 to complete the V62 process and the link to begin is below.

How long does it take for me to receive the money for my car?

Accepted Answer

At Car-To-Sell we pride ourselves on the speed of our purchases and payments. Once we have completed the appraisal process and you have accepted the offer we will complete a purchase invoice. At this point we will ask for your account number and sort code for BACS payment. The bank transfer is instantaneous so you will receive your funds immediately with no hidden charges or admin fees.

I still have outstanding finance on my car, can you still buy it?

Yes we can! We have a very straight forward process in place to complete the purchase of your vehicle even if you have outstanding finance! We will settle your finance for you and pay you the remaining balance immediately. If you owe more than your vehicle is worth, we can also be of assistance to help you with the sale of your car so please feel free to get in touch!

Do I have to have a bank account for payment or can you you pay me cash?

Unfortunately, for us to pay for the vehicle we would require a valid United Kingdom bank account to transfer the money into. Without a bank account, we would not be able to process the payment. We do not offer cash purchases.

What happens to the remaining tax I have on my vehicle?

Accepted Answer

If you chose to sell your car to us, we go the extra mile for you to notify the DVLA that you have sold the vehicle to us. This not only puts the vehicle into our name from the point of sale but it will process your automatic refund for any full remaining months left on the vehicle tax. You usually receive this via a cheque from the DVLA.
